Peer-led, non-clinical mental health support grounded in lived experience, connection, and recovery.
Roots & Resilience offers community-based peer support and wellness services for individuals navigating mental health challenges, chronic stress, disability, life transitions, and recovery.
Our approach is non-clinical, strengths-based, and rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection, understanding, and shared humanity.
Roots & Resilience exists to make mental and emotional support more accessible, human, and community-centered — especially for those who may feel underserved, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn.
Daniel Choe
Founder & Community Wellness Director
Certified Peer Support Specialist (California)
Daniel brings lived experience, professional peer support training, and years of work in community mental health settings. His approach centers compassion, empowerment, and practical support — meeting people where they are without judgment or clinical labels.
He is passionate about helping others find hope and strength, even in the most difficult and seemingly hopeless moments. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) at Columbia University, he is dedicated to fostering resilience, healing, and meaningful growth in individuals and communities.
Roots & Resilience was inspired by the belief that people are not broken — and that recovery and resilience are possible with the right support and community.
Roots and Resilience is built on the truth that what keeps us strong is often unseen. Like a tree, our deepest roots extend far beyond what the eye can see—anchoring us through storms, nourishing growth, and holding us steady in the face of fire, loss, and change. These roots store strength, absorb what we need to survive, and protect the whole system.
At the same time, resilience is our capacity to stand—emotionally and mentally—amid struggle and uncertainty. By returning to and exploring the roots of our identities, families, emotions, histories, and lived experiences, we create space for healing and renewal. Roots and Resilience is about cultivating inner strength from the ground up—so individuals, and the communities they belong to, can grow stronger, steadier, and more whole.

Reflections on mental health, resilience, and the human experience
Welcome to Daniel’s Diary.
This space is where I share honest reflections from my own mental health and life journey—moments of growth, struggle, clarity, and resilience. My hope is that by naming these experiences out loud, others feel a little less alone in theirs.
These entries aren’t meant to provide therapy or advice, but rather to offer connection, perspective, and reminders that healing is rarely linear—and that resilience can take many forms.
(These reflections are based on my personal experiences and are shared for educational and reflective purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are in crisis or need immediate support, please contact local emergency services or a trusted mental health provider.)
